Project Description
Angela is a Melbourne-based internationally acclaimed jeweller, so when her brief to us was to ‘make really big jewellery’ as her new Carlton gallery entrance security piece, we knew our design had to be something special. No basic ‘bar-and-cage’ was going to cut the mustard here! We took inspiration from her logo, and with some discussions and a sketch or two, we produced it in structural form. The construction came from basic flat and rolled steel with the feature coated in an amazing gold paint applied by hand. Our bold fixture started bringing customers into the shop before we had finished the installation. Being located on a busy city street, we injected some pragmatism to the design by allowing the screen to easily open and enable easy cleaning of those important front feature windows.
